Non golfing spouses/partners are welcome to join the après golf.

Hiking Group

The hiking group is active though out the year and has a contact list of approx. 30 club members. Hikes are arranged twice a month, weather permitting, and are usually 10-15 km in length, ranging in difficulty from easy to moderate with the odd difficult trek thrown in. The hikes can take place from as far south as Nanaimo to the other side of Campbell River although most are in the Comox Valley.

Once you are on the contact list a notice of an upcoming hike will be distributed a few days prior to the outing asking for a response from those who plan to attend. We usually get approximately 10 hikers out each time although we did get 19 once this past year to as few as 2.
Driving instructions, weather updates, meeting times etc will be sent the day prior to the hike. We always pack a lunch and take plenty of drinking water.
If this is an activity that interests you we welcome you to join the group.

We hope to see you on the trail enjoying the wondrous outdoors of British Columbia.

Kayaking Group

Our kayaking is a fun recreational sport for all levels of paddlers.  We encourage exploration, picture taking, and stops along the way.  We kayak both on lakes and along the ocean shoreline.  We encourage our members to suggest locations that they like or are interested in exploring be it around the valley or farther afield.

Please bring a lunch, water, a hat, and lots of sunscreen.

If you have never kayaked but would like to give it a try you can rent a kayak from Courtenay Valley Kayaks and Canoes which is located by the air park - or Barb would be happy to take you out for a paddle in one of their kayaks.

Please contact the Wilson’s to register and sign an activity waiver.

Snowshoeing Group

Join us for a fun-filled outdoor experience.  We will try to snowshoe on groomed trails and on relatively level ground with some hills.  There are many local locations that allow us to drive to so we can enjoy a winter wonderland and take in the sights of the valley.

If you would like to try snowshoeing but don’t have the equipment, Valhalla Pure Outfitters on Cliffe Ave and the Nordic Lodge on Mt. Washington both rent snowshoes.

Layers of warm clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, a bagged lunch, and water are essential.  We also encourage the use of poles for balance and also to assist in climbing up/down hills.

Later in the spring, when the trails are hard-packed, we can switch to cramp-ons instead of snowshoes, and continue our outdoor adventures.

Hikes will be based on weather.  An email will be sent out a couple of days in advance to inform you where we will be meeting.  Suggestions for hike locations are greatly encouraged.

Please email me to join and also to access a waiver.

Walking Group

The Walking Group meets every Monday.

Objective: stay active.

During the winter, we primarily walk the Courtenay Airpark. Like birds? Like sea views? Like changing colors? Always there. Great views, great walks. During milder weather, we change venues and take suggestions: Lazo Wetlands, the Royston Seawalk, and Seal Bay Park are among our walks.

Get active. Get out. Join the Walking Group.
